City map Journey + Berlin Completed

Here I am at the end of a long project, and am reasonably pleased with the result (though I think i’ve looked at it way too much to really be able to “see” it) Its been a long journey since the two months I spent in Berlin, back in 2010.

I figured i’ll write this post up about not only the Berlin Project, but also the city map series as whole, to give some insight into what happened, how the project got started and the things that happened along the way. Hopefully my awful writing ability will not ruin this post too much.

So I end up not updating here very often, and thought I would do a big update of various things that I have done:

I was asked to create a piece of work, for the Art Auction MTV RE:DEFINE: Click here for information about the event.

The art Auction went very well and 30 artists managed to raise over $1 million dollars!! it was great to be part of, and exciting to watch the Auction. The auction took place in Dallas, Tx, USA. photos from the event are here: PHOTOS

I had two pieces for the Show:

Went to check out the Paris Linocut Prints, I had not been able to see them for a few months for various reasons, so it was great to see the collection of originals I had made, as well as the Black and white prints. Here is a picture taken of me by Ed Bartlett.

Hopefully details of the solo show will be coming very soon.

Space to Carve a Linocut

So i’m now looking for a space to carve a linocut i have designed, i’ve had it done now for quite some time, i just do not have the adequate space to carve it, so am wondering if i can find someone nice enough to put me up in a room for 6 months. The room would not need a lot of light, i would just hopefully be able to set a computer up to be able to listen to audiobooks. Compiled a list of about 50 i want to get through in the 6 months i think it will take to carve.

The Linocut is going to be about 3.4 meters X 1.74 meters, so my room here is not big enough at all.

I could possibly exchange a print of the works when its done. any leads would be greatly appreciated. Or links to spaces that might be able to put me up, or ask around if you can.

I seem to be rubbish at applications for residency programs, but if you do have any leads for residencies that i might be able to do, that would be greatly appreciated too!

cheers.

Very much looking forward to the following Exhibition, my Linocut Animation – Dehisce will be in the exhibition, an on display will be all the 297 printed frames. My London Linocut Map will be on display, and also two new Linocut prints will be on display the type of which i have never displayed before.

Details about the exhibition taking place in Oxford, England….

LINOLEUM The Cutting Edge: Sunday 15 to Sunday 29 April 2012

This is an eye-opening show on what you can achieve with a humble piece of lino. If you’re thinking kids in classrooms, think again. These international artists push the boundaries with large-scale prints and animations.

The prints are incredible value for money too, and if you can’t make it to the show they’re available here to buy online.

The artists taking part are:
Victoria Browne
Steve Edwards
Bill Fick
Wuon-Gean Ho
Scott Minzy
Nick Morley
Carsten Nicolaus
Chris Pig
Peter Rapp
Mark Andrew Webber

Curated by Nick Morley

visit: http://www.hemingwayart.co.uk/ for more information and how to get there.

Cheers
